On 8 April 2021 the 4th International Road Maintenance Day (IRMD), hashtag #IRMD2021, will be held. This year’s edition will be broadcasted in HD streaming starting at 10 am (GMT+1), fully in line with #StayHome under the motto “maintaining roads and protecting the environment by research”.
This year the organisers, the Spanish Asphalt Producers Association (Asociación Española de Fabricantes de Mezclas Asfálticas – Asefma) would like to emphasise the progress that has been made in road maintenance from the perspective of innovation and research. ASEFMA President Juan José Potti, also EAPA Vice President, stated: “Last year, for the very first time the international road maintenance day was held in digital format, offering a new approach, fully in line with #StayHome”. Asefma invited all stakeholders of the road sector to a digital congress of reflection and analysis on the impact of road maintenance on the environment, under the heading “maintaining roads is protecting the environment”.
#IRMD2020 broke all digital impact records. The conference was held in Spanish and English in double sessions in the morning and in the afternoon with invited speakers from Spain, Europe and America related to the road sector.
The event was also broadcasted via Twitter by live messages with hashtag #IRMD2020. In only 24 hours, the total amount of tweets was of 7,772. 140 replies were generated and during the event more than 1,071 links and images were used. The total amount of impacts was of 37,168,093. The number of users who sent a tweet with hashtag #IRMD2020 was of 1,177. The estimated reach or number of accounts that received a tweet with hashtag #IRMD2020 was of 2,367,521. These figures are great and are more than twice the number of impacts reached than in 2019. Hashtag #IRMD2020 was trending topic in three 3 countries, amongst those was Spain.
As shown on the IRMD website the #IRMDFriends family grew to 184, there are already 69 #IRMDPartners, 16 #IRMDSponsors, and 8 #IRMDMedia.
